我們沿著歷史的足跡，探訪深藏不漏的智慧。

翻譯不單單只是翻譯而已，更是要體會觀察仙佛、聖賢的心，如何將這份心傳遞下去。僅僅只是希望每個人藉此而得到智慧，能更游刃有餘的面對生活中的瑣碎而已。

下午譯場重現的課堂中，我們了解到古代翻譯的大師，玄奘法師與鳩摩羅什師，兩人在翻譯佛經這條路上的心路歷程。

原來我們手上讀的每部經典都不僅僅是透過單一的翻譯者，所完成翻譯而獲得的經本，而是這背後蘊含著精密、龐大、博學、專業的一整個翻譯體系來完成的。那麼每當我們在讀誦金剛經、心經、道德經等等經典之前，深深的叩首，是為了要感謝過去在交通不便捷、資訊不發達的時代，那些用盡一生一步一腳印往返超過5000公里的絲路之上，不畏艱難甚至賭上性命，只為了留下這些聖賢的美好智慧。

我們只是花了不到一個小時的時間，來模擬當時譯場現況，來翻譯一段經典，就足以讓我們費盡心力、煎熬的勉強擠出一段過去法師、學者們早已經翻譯過的話語。

感恩前輩們在那個沒有ChatGPT、Google翻譯、翻譯筆的時代，還能這樣鍥而不捨地堅持到底，以長跑馬拉松式的接棒，傳承到這個世代。

每條坦途的背後都有一段不為人知的生命故事，我們在分享合德的故事中，感受到師母用她堅毅智慧承接這個動盪不安的時代，給予一個堅忍與最溫暖的力量，來支撐著每個失落的靈魂，讓我們更有向前走下去的勇氣。

勇氣，不是不害怕，而是就算全身顫抖著，還要用盡全力繼續走在這條路上。

雖然現在的我們已經不像過去的前輩們歷經苦難，一早我們走在微風輕拂、豔陽高照的路上，台中的天氣四季如春，影子下擠滿了人，聽著專業導覽人員為我們解讀說，就連台中人也不見得聽過的歷史故事。300年前如何從這塊沼澤泥地，開墾建設成如此繁榮現代的城市。

我們從台中火車站出發，一路上我們走訪宮原眼科、新盛橋、柳川、櫻橋、東協廣場、青草街與全安堂太陽餅博物館，在第四信合作社吃冰淇淋做結束。短短1.5小時的路程就讓我們飢腸轆轆，感謝宏天分壇的各位經理、壇辦的護持，為我們先開了冷氣，準備了餐點，還特別安排茶席，甜點還是排隊的台灣美食 紅豆餅。

只為期許我們在翻譯團活動的參與，能夠持續支持下去。

我們在參與破冰遊戲，在相同的鞋號裡，彎腰手尖碰腳趾中，融化了的不同語言、種族、年齡的藩籬。

翻譯不難，只要我們一起努力，相互學習，願你和我們一起攜手同行。

Pilgrimage, Taichung Light Travel; Translation, Behind-the-Scenes Special

We follow the footprints of history, seeking the hidden wisdom passed down.

Translation is not just about converting words; it’s about understanding and observing the hearts of immortals, Buddhas, and sages, and how to pass this heart down to others. We hope that everyone can gain wisdom through this and easily navigate the trivialities of life.

In the afternoon, during the reenacted class of the translation site, we learned about the journeys of ancient translation masters, Xuanzang and Kumārajīva. Their paths to translating Buddhist scriptures were not easy.

It turns out that the scriptures we read are not merely translated by a single translator but are the result of an entire, intricate, vast, and scholarly translation system. So, before we read or recite classics like the Diamond Sutra, Heart Sutra, or Tao Te Ching, we should bow deeply in gratitude for those who, in times of limited communication and underdeveloped information, traveled over 5000 kilometers along the Silk Road, enduring hardships and even risking their lives, just to preserve the wonderful wisdom of the sages.

We spent less than an hour simulating the conditions of the ancient translation site to translate a passage of scripture. This experience alone made us realize how difficult it was to carefully translate words that were once rendered by past monks and scholars.

We are grateful to our predecessors who, in the age before tools like ChatGPT, Google Translate, or translation pens, persisted relentlessly, passing the baton in a marathon-like relay, so that their wisdom could reach this generation.

Behind every smooth path is a hidden life story. In sharing the story of harmony, we felt the strength and wisdom of the Matriarch, who took on the challenges of this turbulent era with determination and warmth, providing strength to every lost soul, giving us the courage to keep moving forward.

Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the determination to keep going despite trembling with fear.

Though we no longer face the suffering that our predecessors endured, we walked on a road this morning with a gentle breeze and bright sun. The weather in Taichung is like spring all year round, and the streets were filled with people. We listened to a professional guide explain historical stories that even locals hadn’t heard. We learned how, 300 years ago, a swampy, muddy land was transformed into the prosperous, modern city of Taichung.

Starting from Taichung Train Station, we visited Miyahara Eye Clinic, Xinsheng Bridge, Liuchuan, Sakura Bridge, ASEAN Square, Qingcao Street, and the Quanan Hall Sun Cake Museum. We ended with ice cream at the Fourth Credit Cooperative of Taichung. In just 1.5 hours, we were hungry and grateful to the Masters from the Hongtian branch and the support of the temple for preparing air conditioning, meals, and even a tea ceremony, complete with Taiwan’s iconic dessert, red bean cakes.

This was done in the hope that we would continue supporting the translation group’s activities.

We also participated in an icebreaker game, where, in the same shoe size, we bent down to touch our toes, breaking down barriers between different languages, races, and ages.

Translation is not difficult as long as we work together and learn from each other. We hope that you will join us in this journey.
